Welcome to the gaming section of the Airy Aerie! Here you can find our reviews of games that we’ve played, as well as opinion pieces and blog posts!
CODE VEIN
A Souls-style game involving some of the most fashionable vampires you’ll ever see, who also demonstrated how to make gas masks look both fashionable and yet highly questionable and proved that wearing masks can, in fact, be trendy. Oh, and you know, there’s big hulking monsters to kill and souls to collect, and stuff, I guess.
Pokemon: the proof of Nintendo’s greed
Nintendo are greedy, and nowhere do they display this greed better than in their flagship franchise Pokemon. In this very long article, I’ll break down the series history, actually tally up the number of games and do some rudimentary maths to show you just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Pokemon: boil ‘em, mash ‘em, cut ‘em up and sell them at full price with only half the features.
Human Fall Flat
A smaller game featuring physics puzzles and very bouncy marshmallow people, supporting co-op play for up to eight people at once. Which, depending on what kind of friends you play games with, might be more of a nightmare than you think.
The Curse of Player Retention
The modern implementation of player retention is garbage and goes against the very principle of “games”. In other words: thanks, I hate it.
A Narrative on Gamers
Between the discussion of if a walking simulator can even be classed as a game, and people scrambling to understand the story of the game, it seems everybody has missed the point Dear Esther was trying to make.
God Eater Resurrection
It’s an anime Monster Hunter! What more could we want, right? What could go wrong? Well… everything. Everything can go wrong. This was a bad idea.
